The International Student Practices have been organized since 2004 on the initiative of the UC, Moscow Engineering Physics Institute, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, a number of Polish universities, and the Czech Technical University in Prague. The practices are intended for graduate students of the JINR Member States and the countries that have government-level agreements with JINR. The practices are held in the summer during the student holidays. The practices are two or three-week long.
They are held so that the students would
get the fullest possible information on the research performed at JINR;
perform short student research work at JINR's basic facilities;
get acquainted with JINR's scientists and find for themselves their prospective scientific supervisors (those students who would like to come to JINR later for longer time to perform their diploma work or enter the JINR postgraduate studies);
attend lectures by leading scientists on current issues of physics;
learn about the Russian culture.
Every day of the practice consists usually of lectures in the morning and practical work at the Institute's laboratories in the afternoon. On weekends, a social programme is provided: offered are excursions to Moscow Region's historic sights.
If you'd like to participate in a practice, you should
contact your country's JINR staff member responsible for the student-related activities.
specify which laboratory work you would like to perform at JINR's basic research facilities.
You should pay the organization fee, which covers your accommodation, meals, and the social programme. As a rule, the practice participants coming from JINR Member States have their fee paid at the expense of special grants – it is exactly the reason for which you are advised to contact your country's JINR staff member mentioned above.
You will have to pay all your travel expenses.
